Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it — in plain language.

Effective Date: 2 August 2026

Last Updated: 2 August 2026

Introduction

My Family Dinners ("we," "our," or "us") provides a recipe management, meal planning, and shopping list application available on iOS and at myfamilydinners.com (the "App" or "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have regarding your information.

We are committed to being transparent about our data practices. Please read this policy carefully. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us at privacy@myfamilydinners.com.

1. Who We Are

My Family Dinners is currently operated by an individual developer under the Apple Developer account "origin222." We intend to transition operation of the App to a Virginia limited liability company once formed. Regardless of the specific legal entity operating the App at any given time, this Privacy Policy governs how your information is collected and used, and the contact information below remains the way to reach us.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Passwords are handled and stored securely by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing — we do not store your password in plain text and cannot view it.

2.2 User-Created Content

To provide the core features of the App, we collect and store the content you create or save, including:

  • Saved and organized recipes
  • Meal plans (including AI-generated weekly meal plans)
  • Shopping lists generated from your meal plans

2.3 Preferences and Profile Information

To personalize your experience, we collect information you provide about:

  • Dietary preferences (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free, allergies)
  • Family size
  • Kid-friendly filter settings and preferences

2.4 Device and Notification Information

If you enable push notifications on iOS, we collect a device token used to deliver notifications to your device via Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging.

2.5 Subscription and Purchase Information

If you subscribe to a paid tier of the App, we (through our subscription management provider, RevenueCat, and Apple's App Store) receive and store your subscription status, such as whether you have an active subscription, your subscription tier, and renewal dates. Payment card details are handled entirely by Apple; we do not receive or store your payment card information.

2.6 Usage and Analytics Information

We collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics through Vercel Analytics for our web application. This may include general information such as pages visited, approximate location (country/region level), device/browser type, and referring pages. This data is not used to individually identify you.

2.7 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not knowingly collect precise geolocation, biometric data, contacts, photos (beyond what you voluntarily attach to a recipe, if applicable), or financial account/card information.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Provide core App functionality: saving recipes, generating meal plans, creating shopping lists, and powering cooking mode
  • Generate AI-powered weekly meal plans and kid-friendly recipe tags tailored to your stated preferences, dietary needs, and family size
  • Send push notifications you have opted into (e.g., cooking timers, meal plan reminders)
  • Process and manage your subscription and billing status
  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the App through anonymous usage analytics
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
  • Communicate with you about your account, the Service, or in response to your inquiries
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. AI Features and Data Processing

My Family Dinners uses artificial intelligence to generate weekly meal plans and to tag recipes as kid-friendly. To power these features, relevant information — such as your dietary preferences, family size, saved recipes, and kid-friendly filter settings — is sent to Anthropic (maker of the Claude AI models) for processing. This information is transmitted securely and is used solely to generate the requested output (e.g., a meal plan or recipe tag) for your account. We do not permit our AI service providers to use your data to train their general-purpose models, in accordance with our agreements with those providers.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

5.1 Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the App. Each provider only receives the information necessary to perform its function:

| Provider | Purpose | Data Shared |

|---|---|---|

| Supabase | Database hosting and user authentication | Account credentials, user-created content, preferences (stored in the United States) |

| Anthropic (Claude) | AI-generated meal plans and kid-friendly recipe tagging | Dietary preferences, family size, recipe data, filter settings |

| Vercel | Web application hosting and anonymous analytics | Aggregated, anonymous usage data; hosting infrastructure for all web traffic |

| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Subscription status, purchase/entitlement identifiers |

| Apple App Store | Payment processing and subscription billing (iOS) | Purchase and subscription information (handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy) |

| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | Push notification delivery | Device token |

| Trigger.dev | Background job processing (e.g., recipe import/processing tasks) | Recipe content necessary to complete background processing tasks |

Each of these providers is contractually obligated (or bound by their own privacy terms) to safeguard your information and use it only to provide services to us.

We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud or security issues.

5.3 Business Transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets (including the anticipated conversion to a Virginia LLC), your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

6. Push Notifications

If you use the iOS App, you will be asked to opt in to push notifications (for example, for cooking timers or meal plan reminders) through Apple's standard permission prompt. You may decline this prompt, and you can enable, disable, or change notification permissions at any time in your device's Settings > Notifications > My Family Dinners. If you opt in, we collect a device token via Firebase Cloud Messaging solely to deliver notifications to your device. Declining or disabling notifications will not affect your ability to use the rest of the App.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account remains active, so that we can provide you with the App's features (such as your saved recipes and meal plan history).

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and user-created content within 30 days. Some limited information may be retained for longer where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or maintain security and fraud-prevention records — this residual data is retained only as long as necessary for those specific purposes.

Aggregated or anonymized analytics data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely.

8. Your Rights and Choices

8.1 Access, Export, and Deletion

You can, at any time:

  • Access the personal information and content associated with your account
  • Export your recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists
  • Delete individual items (recipes, meal plans, shopping lists) or your entire account

You can perform these actions directly within the App's account settings, or by emailing us at privacy@myfamilydinners.com. Account deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

8.2 Notification Preferences

You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your iOS device settings, as described in Section 6.

8.3 California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you
  • Request access to and a copy of your personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights

To exercise these rights, email privacy@myfamilydinners.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." We will verify your identity (typically by confirming account ownership via your registered email) before fulfilling your request.

8.4 European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectify inaccurate personal data
  • Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your personal data
  • Receive your data in a portable format ("data portability")
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Legal bases for processing: We process your personal data on the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract (to provide the App's features you request), (b) consent (e.g., for push notifications), (c) legitimate interests (e.g., improving the App and preventing fraud), and (d) compliance with legal obligations.

International data transfers: Our service providers, including Supabase, store data in the United States. Where personal data is transferred from the EEA/UK to the United States, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, offered by our service providers.

To exercise your GDPR rights, email privacy@myfamilydinners.com.

8.5 Other Jurisdictions

Residents of other jurisdictions with data protection laws (e.g., Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws) may have similar rights to those described above. Contact us at privacy@myfamilydinners.com to exercise any applicable rights, and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

My Family Dinners is designed for use by parents and adults managing meal planning and recipes for their families. The App is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at privacy@myfamilydinners.com, and we will promptly investigate and delete such information from our systems.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure authentication and password hashing via Supabase
  • Access controls limiting who can access user data
  • Reliance on reputable, security-conscious infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel, Firebase, RevenueCat)

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

11. Your Choices Regarding Third-Party Services

Certain features of the App rely on third-party services (see Section 5.1). You can control some of these interactions directly:

  • Push notifications: Manage via iOS Settings, as described in Section 6.
  • Subscriptions: Manage, view, or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings (Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on iOS) or through the App Store.
  • Analytics: Our web analytics (Vercel) are anonymous and aggregated; they do not use cookies to track you across other websites.

12. Apple App Store Disclosures

For users who download the App via the Apple App Store, the following App Store–specific disclosures apply:

  • Data linked to your identity: Email address (account creation), user content (recipes, meal plans, shopping lists), preferences, and subscription status.
  • Data not linked to your identity: Anonymous usage analytics, device tokens used solely for push notification delivery.
  • Tracking: We do not use your information to track you across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes, and we do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
  • Third-party processing: As described in Section 5, we use Supabase, Anthropic, RevenueCat, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Vercel, and Trigger.dev to operate the App. Apple processes payment and subscription information under its own privacy policy, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

This section is intended to align with Apple's App Store privacy label and App Privacy Details requirements. In case of any inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and our published App Store privacy label, the App Store privacy label (as configured in App Store Connect) governs how data use is represented to users on the App Store.

13. Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" setting. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to these signals, our Service does not currently respond differently to browsers with Do Not Track enabled.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Provide notice within the App or via email, where required by law or where the change is significant (e.g., a material change in how we use your personal information)

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
